What Does Kim Kardashian Want for Christmas? A Reflective Recap of 2011

2011 is coming to an end, and the Holidays are once again near. While some of us are still shaking off the summer, the media and the the weather indicate it is time to think Holidays again. This year should already leave everyone in a more reflective mindset. Like a Greys Anatomy episode, where a perfect storm of catastrophe is possible each week, this year has had enough drama and major occurrences to leave all of us with our heads spinning. As if the past few years did not offer enough big headlines, this year seemed to trump them all. With that said, for the Holidays this year, do people feel just a little bit more nostalgic about just simply being happy with the loved ones they have, and the fact that they are alive and free?

Kim Kardashian has had a fun and eventful year hasn't she? What are the things important to someone like her this holiday season. Set aside the money and paparazzi; assuming her short lived nuptials were legitimate, what would she want for Christmas? With her salary, wedding gifts and access to just about any material thing a person could want, there can't be too many "things" she wants. I think she bought herself a Ferrari as a wedding present.

Kim also just participated in the world's most public engagement, marriage and divorce (in less than six months flat), and the media coverage shows no sign of slowing down. She has got to be exhausted. That situation made Nick and Jessica's marriage and divorce (remember them?) look like a patient, long-term marriage. Their show lasted a couple seasons, before the relationship ended. With Kim and uh, Kris, we never made it to the honeymoon episodes. They were still in production.

So what do you get her for Christmas? An Ipad 2? Kindle Fire? She's probably had those for a while now. More importantly, what do you think she wants?

In the opinion of this writer, who does not claim to know that much about Kim, aside from what my wife watches and I read in the grocery store headlines, I think she probably wants some rest. If given a moment to reflect on the year, she may want to just be happy that she has a large family who seems to be very supportive of her; and may spend more time focusing on them than herself.

Kim may want to give Angelina Jolie a call and see what charity work she could get involved in. During Angelina's days of dominating headlines (and still today), she always tries to shift some of the focus to major world needs and charities for disadvantaged children and the less fortunate. Setting the ultimate example by adopting some of these children, along with Brad Pitt, and caring for them as her own.

The rest of us may feel that our lives have been through a pretty rough year as well. The past events of the year have left us with a whirlwind of emotions. Material possessions may not be as important to many of us this year, than they have felt in years past. This is for more reasons than the stress of events. With the economy continuing to drag, many people are still struggling financially. We have become more accustom to living with "less," but at the same time technology has allowed us to live with less. We don't need new phones or cars, because we purchased these things in years past, and they still work just fine. We are actually satisfied with this for a change, and given the lack of funds, and desire to simply rest with those who we still have around may actually resonate with us this year.

Below is a list of some of the major events and deaths (in no particular order) that have taken place in 2011 so far.  A quick reading of this list gives all of us reasons to be thankful this year that we are all still here and to appreciate those who we have in our lives.  Reading through this list also makes one feel a sense of obligation to give a little bit to others; as there are just too many people who need help and assistance listed below, and of course all of the other tragedies and events that are not included here and that have taken place in years past.

All of the above is enough to make any of us a bit stressed out and does not include the personal events that impact each of us as individuals. This author has personally lost several loved ones and friends and endured a non-stop stream of distracting, stressful circumstance.

Getting Back to the Original Question...

"What Does Kim Kardashian Want for Christmas?" Here are a few guesses, or suggestions if you will (again in no particular order)...

• A long, un-interupted nap
• Quiet time to spend with the family
• To give some of her earnings (and wedding gifts) to Charity
• Spend some of her time using her "celebrity" to bring attention to any of the issues that need positive attention listed above, and help out some of the less fortunate
• If I was incorrect earlier on, she may want a new Ipad2, you never know
